hey all,
i've been trying to get my personal 4 channel mixer working with vista. i can get my soundcard to output to the mixer, however i'm not sure if my mic is even in the mix at all. I can't do any recording too, goldwave doesn't want to pick up anything i try. any ideas would be greatly taken.
First of all using a USB mixer is just asking for trouble and will most likely result in crashing Vista, What exactly do you need a mixer for. I've seen tons of people getting mixers, and I can't find a good reason why everyone need one, unless they are doing some recording and need effects and panning at hand. Just buy another sound card, that'll probably support what you want better. XP has really good audio support I hear hehe. Analogue is the way to go. If you are doing vocal recordings, just over dub and pan for a stereo effect if that is what you want. with all the games though I doubt you'd have any time for recording.......booooooom
for one, i'd never use a USB mixer, i wanted to use my on board soundcard. as for why i wanted one, i've wanted to record some stuff with berbal input and comments from me and vista just doesn't seem to have that ability. just because you don't see a point in something does not mean others can't try it.
as I said before, just get another sound card, you can get them fairly cheap 7.1 surround sound, there is no need for any external mixer if you are just going to do verbal input.
I agree with NuxDude Rat. No need going to spend the money if you don't have to, especialy for what it seems you want to do.
Hey,
For what Rat wants to do, a mixer would be handy because Stereo mix in Vista will not allow you to have the computer's sound and your voice at the same time, at least I haven't found a way to do that in Vista.
Cody and Mike, I know you are going to talk crap about Vista's stereo mix but that is not Vista's fault. It is just the way it works.
Mike, you don't always have to agree with Cody.
